Why choose Handcrafted Soap?
Also known as "handmade soap", handcrafted soap is a blend of both science and art. By combining the scientific knowledge of the last 150 years and the artistic creativity of the soapmaker, each bar is safe, luxurious and unique. Handcrafted soap is soap in its true and most pure form.

Besides all the wonderful ingredients that may be in handcrafted soap, perhaps the biggest advantage of handcrafted soap is in the soapmakers themselves, each of whom invests their care and attention to detail into every batch and bar.

Commercial soaps are manufactured in large factories staffed with anonymous employees, using the most economical ingredients. Often they contain some or all synthetic detergents, and most have the glycerin removed.

Handcrafted soapmakers use high-quality ingredients and are able to add specialty oils and additives to personalize their formulations. The creative artistry of each handcrafted soapmaker results in soaps that are different and unique, offering consumers a wide selection of soaps that are not only natural, but functional and beautiful as well.

What about glycerin?

Glycerin is a "humectant", which means that it attracts and retains moisture on your skin. It is like a natural skin lotion in the soap.

Glycerin is a natural by-product of the soapmaking process. Most commercial soap manufacturers remove the glycerin from the soap, process it and then sell it to other industries where it is used in foods, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and other products. With handcrafted soaps, glycerin remains intact in the soap. The end result is mild, pure soap that gently cleanses your skin without being harsh, irritating or drying.

How long will my Handcrafted Soap last?
As long as you don't let your soap sit in a puddle of water, your handcrafted soap will last as long or longer than mass produced detergent based soaps. Sitting in water makes any soap soften or melt. You can purchase soap sacks that you can hang in the shower after using, allowing the soap to dry between uses. This will help your soap last a long time. I like using the soap sacks because it acts like a wash cloth, you just rub on your skin, and the soap (inside the sack) immediately starts to lather. No need for a wash cloth!

How can you call your soap all natural if it contains sodium hydroxide (lye)?
A well-made bar of soap does not contain lye (sodium hydroxide). Soap is produced by a chemical reaction between a fatty acid and an alkali.  You cannot make real soap without the alkali, which is sodium hydroxide, or in its liquid form lye. During the chemical reaction of the mixture of oils (fatty acid) and lye (alkali), the lye is neutralized and no longer exists in the final bars of soap. The lengthy curing process ensures that the final bar of soap is mild and safe for your skin.

Is your honey Pure?

We never add anything to our honeys!  The bees work so hard at getting it to the right moisture content, that adding anything to it would spoil what nature created.  We have been selling honey for 20 years, and ensure a pure, safe and quality product. You can't stay in business that long selling an inferior product!

Do you make all the products you sell?

Yes, everything we sell we make right here in our Honey House.  Except the bees make the honey, of course! We do not outsource our products. We produce them all in our facility to ensure the highest quality, consistent products that we use ourselves! This allows us to keep a continual stock of products on hand.
